The Mystery Of Why People Love To Complicate Everything

For some reason, us people just love to make things more complicated than it has to be.

I can give so many different examples, but here are a few that I can name off the top of my head.

Drama. More often than not, I see some of my friends who are prone to getting themselves into dramas, get into these situations where the solution is so simple, but they make the problem sound more complicated than it actually is.

Our education. To be more specific, the notorious common core standards. I didn’t think it was possible to take something so fundamental like addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division, and make them 10 times more complex.

I used to work with elementary school students. I’ve seen the work they’re given by their teachers. It’s a bit embarrassing to admit it, but sometimes I wouldn’t even be able to help them with their homework because I didn’t learn math the way they learned it.

If anything, this confirms that if I ever get put into that game show, “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader,” there’s no way I’m leaving the show as a winner.

But moving on.

When it comes to email marketing, there’s so much information about it online to the point where it sounds so complicated.

You’ll see that there are people worried about the smallest things like:

How to come up with the best subject lines.

How to increase open rates.

How to increase email deliverability.

How often you should send emails.

How many days you should space out each email in your autoresponder.

And the list just goes on.

The more I read into this topic, the more I agree that there are way too many outside factors for people to worry about all of that.

That’s why I believe the best thing to do for yourself, your business, and your own sanity is to just focus on writing better emails. If you write emails that your readers will love, then you won’t have to worry about things like your open rates, because they’ll want to open it.

Or your subject lines, because your readers will read your emails simply because it’s from you.

But again, you’ll have to make sure your emails have content that your readers will actually want to read.
